Lei Jun’s official introduction
Lei Jun, born in December 1969, is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Technology.
In July 1991, he received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Wuhan University.
As a renowned technology entrepreneur in China, Lei Jun joined Kingsoft Corporation Limited in 1992; in April 2015, he was named Chairman of the Board at Kingsoft Cloud Holdings Limited.
In 2000, Lei Jun founded joyo.com, an online retailing platform, which was acquired by Amazon in 2004. As an angel investor, Lei Jun has also invested in various innovative businesses, including JOYY Inc. and UCWeb.
In 2010, Lei Jun founded Xiaomi Technology.
Lei Jun’s hometown
On December 16, 1969, Lei Jun was born in the westernmost family in the fourth group of Zhaowan Village, Louhe Town, Xiantao City, Hubei Province.
According to the information on the official platform of Xiantao City in January 2025, Zhaowan Village is located at the south end of Louhe River, on the edge of Daliu Lake, with a low-lying terrain, which is a typical fish and rice town. It has six village groups, 240 households and a total population of 1,275.
The dialect spoken by the locals is Mianyang. Mianyang is the old name of Xiantao, which was called Mianyang before May 27, 1986, and Xiantao after that.
At present, Lei Jun’s hometown, Zhaowan Village, has become a well-known “Netflix Village”, partly because of Lei Jun himself, and partly because of the very good construction of the new countryside here, with rows and rows of small buildings built along the river, which are clean and tidy.
Lei Jun’s Family
Lei Jun’s father’s name is Lei Peihua, graduated from the Normal School in his early years, worked as a teacher in a school in the town of Louhe, and then transferred to the Xiantao Municipal Education Bureau to work.
His mother, Xiong Zhengying, was a housewife.
Lei Jun also has two sisters.
Lei Jun’s wife is Zhang Tong, they met and fell in love when they were studying at Wuhan University, Zhang Tong is also an academic character, in Lei Jun’s entrepreneurial process, Zhang Tong has always given him endless support and encouragement, to create a cozy family environment for him, so that he can feel the warmth and peace of home in the busy work of the rest.
